IGN readers have voted for their all-time favourite horror games

Readers of popular online video gaming site IGN have been busy voting for their all-time favourite horror games and there’s plenty of big names mentioned in the list. It seems as though Silent Hill 2 is the perhaps the ultimate horror games and Konami announced last month that they are working on a remake of the second game in the series for the latest consoles. It would not be a horror game list without a Resident Evil game being mentioned and Capcom’s survival horror franchise takes up six places in the top ten. Here’s the horror games IGN readers believe to be the best of the best (full list here)

Top ten horror games

  1. Silent Hill 2
  2. Resident Evil 2 Remake
  3. Resident Evil 7
  4. Dead Space
  5. Resident Evil 4
  6. Silent Hill
  7. Resident Evil Village
  8. Resident Evil 2
  9. Silent Hill 3
  10. Resident Evil Remake

    1. This IGN fanbase is so phony. Silent Hill 2 sold so much less than the Original but somehow more have it as their favorite 😮‍💨 it’s so obvious that it’s because of the recently announced Remake.

      1. That argument reminds me of the people who say Banjo Kazooie fans are being phony because that game is praised as a classic while Croc apparently sold more and is mostly forgotten about.

          1. I just rechecked, apparently Croc sold 90,000 less copies but the comparisons are still made by certain people to try and make a “point”. They try to act like more sales means higher acclaim when that’s not always the case.

            1. Oh of course not, that I will always agree with. But if this is the case, SH3 sold less than 2, but it’s regarded as the best among the first 3. Wouldnt that mean that 3 should be the fan favorite?

Yeah that argument never made sense. I grew up with both, and Croc was never great. It was a decent game with a lot of Nintendo history, but I feel like that’s the reason why it was even an argument, because of the history.

Damn you though!!! Now I want to play Croc and save those little fur balls! Lol
