Nintendo may not drop the prices of their games often, regardless of whether it is permanent or not, but third-parties have absolutely no problem with doing it if the time is right. In fact, the latest example of this was officially announced a little more than 24 hours ago.
You see, Capcom has announced that they are permanently dropping the price of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. You will now be able to buy the game for $39.99 on the Nintendo Switch and PC. You can see their announcement tweet about the matter down below.
Hope they release this on other platforms eventually like Monster Hunter Rise even tho most said Monster Hunter Rise wouldn’t ever get ported.
This is a tougher one since it hasn’t left mobile platforms, but like you said, Rise was ported, so maybe this could too. I personally stopped playing the 3ds version maybe 10 hours in, I hated how repetitive it got.
I was trying to play it on Switch, but when I reached the forest village, the frame rate tanked so hard it “ruined” the whole experience for me. Bought it on Steam, and waiting for a chance to get a Steam Deck here (it’s not for sale in Norway).
I bought the CE when it first came out.
It is good that others get to experience such a great game
