Deadline: Super Mario Movie looking at an estimated global start of $300M+

Illumination and Nintendo’s long-awaited Super Mario Bros. Movie launched on Wednesday in various countries throughout the world and is currently looking like a box-office smash hit. In Mexico the Super Mario Bros. Movie became the second best-selling animated movie, just behind Toy Story 4 and in the United Kingdom it secured the best animated opening day of all-time and the biggest opening of 2023, so far. Records were also broken in several other countries as critics and the box-office underestimated the appeal of The Super Mario Bros Movie with consumers. Movie site Deadline says that it is currently looking at a $300 million+ opening, though it should be noted that these are estimated numbers. It should also be noted that some countries such as Japan won’t be getting The Super Mario Bros. Movie until 28th April.

  1. The movie is amazing.

At my local theater there was a guy who started screaming “no, no, no…!!!” every time the audience was cheering, true story!

It was monumental how this movie left everyone with a smile on their faces, good job Miyamoto and team you achieved your goal.

Fans love this movie, critics hate it cuz it don’t have agendas like woke, trans, political and social hence why they give this movie a terrible review.

    1. I am one of the biggest Nintendo fans there can be and this movie is horrible. I didn’t go to watch 90 minutes of Nintendo ads I went for a movie and there was no freaking story and it was all over the place. The casting was so horrible I will probably not be able to even play another Mario game again it was so bad.

      1. Given that you were already ready to hate this movie in the other comment sections before the film had even released, I’d say your opinions seems quite biased and as a result not worth much.

And seriously? “Probably not be able to even play another Mario game again”?
How exactly would a bad film adaptation make you not want to play a good video game? There is literally nothing in the film that detracts from the games themselves. If this is hyperbole, it’s poorly done.

You really need to chill lmao. The film obviously wasn’t a masterpiece, but it’s no where near as bad as you’re trying to paint it.

They probably didn’t like it because it didn’t really have a focus on story.

I mean, they actually let Princess Peach do something instead of making her a damsel in distress, I’d think that’d be too “woke” for a fella like you.

  3. That’s why it’ll get good reviews, because anyone who voices an honest opinion or doesn’t agree with the majority is an automatic social outcast or a troll. Everyone says “watch it and form your own opinion” Yet anyone who voices an honest opinion or doesn’t agree is an outcast for forming an honest opinion.
