Super Mario Bros. Movie has grossed over $901.2m worldwide

To say that The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been successful would be a massive understatement. The movie has been available to watch in theaters for a few weeks now, and it has been breaking records, including at the North American box office, every single week.

It isn’t surprising at all, but the massive success has resulted in the movie achieving another milestone yesterday. You see, as of Tuesday, Nintendo and Illumination’s film has now officially grossed over $900,000,000 worldwide. For now, its global total is currently sitting at $901,200,000. So far, $444,000,000 was made in North America’s box office, while $457,200,000 was made in the international box office.

It is now expected that the movie will surpass the billion mark. This is because the movie is debuting in Korea and Japan this week. In fact, today is opening day for the movie in Korea. Early estimated numbers from opening day from the region, as well as previews, are already suggesting that the film may have made an additional $774,000,000 since Tuesday. However, that number has not officially been added to the total yet.

  1. Well, its time for them to open its doors for a sequel since the box office is extremely phenomenal at this rate in US and other territories. The numbers are still counting itself.

      1. They will laugh in their face and say no like they did with Microsoft that one time when they tried to buy Nintendo. Doesn’t matter how much a company has, Nintendo will never let anyone buy them.

    1. Considering that Donnie is a sonic fan maybe it was a lapsus due to the super mario bros. movie surpassing both sonic movies combined.

  2. I’m so HAPPY about this! The Film is Incredible, and I highly recommend it to anyone! Go out and Watch it! Excellent Movie!

  3. Ok 😏 now is time for superb metroid movie beating original alien and superb zelda movie beating lotr trilogy .

  4. For those that say the movie fell flat or wasn’t long enough, I’m glad it did that. It left the fans wanting more and I believe that was the intention. And it did just that. I seen it 8 times, the movie is amazingly entertaining. I’m hoping it still goes strong after hitting $1 billion.

  5. To movie is more than likely gonna pass 1 billion, my guess 1.1-1.4 as the movie hasn’t even come out in Japan and South Korea yet

  6. we’re gonna see a lot of brands coming and returning now and videogamestudios being taken more seriously and thus partnering with more high level movie and animation studios.

I guess whatever brand of the past 30 years you can imagine is now way more open for movie/series adaptation than ever before.

Mario 2 and Zelda might be nobrainers. I guess Nintendo could also do something with Kirby and Animal crossing.
God of War and Fallout are already in the making, I guess Elder Scrolls will be too for sure.

I personally still hope they try not to focus too much on games, that already told a cinematic story. TLOU might be a nice production, but after playing the game it doesn’t really add much while taking away interactivity.

I kinda doubt it. The MCU didn’t really change the public’s perception of the actual comics despite how popular they were.
