E3, or the Electronic Entertainment Expo for short, was cancelled this year. This, unsurprisingly, has raised the question of whether E3 will return next year, if at all. Unfortunately, if you’re wanting E3 to return, this latest development about the matter may not be what you’re wanting to hear.
You see, a meeting packet from the Los Angeles City Tourism Board was discovered today. It includes a summary about planned city conventions, and the summary “includes E3 cancellations for 2024 and 2025”. If true, it’s possible that E3 2024 and E3 2025 may either be cancelled, or moving to a different city.
However, the ESA are saying that this is not the case at this time. In fact, they said in a statement to Video Games Chronicles that they are “currently having conversations about E3 2024 (and beyond), and no final decisions about the event have been made at this time”. So, it seems we’ll have to wait a while longer before we find out what will happen to E3 in the future.
I think it’s time to bury E3 once and for all tbh.
The attempts to ressurect it over these last couple of years have all been failures, and all the major companies are just doing their own announcments now.
As much as I used to love E3 in previous years, it’s time to move on now.
I mean Nintendo doesn’t really need e3, and social media is alot more prominent compared to how things were in the early 2000s, Super Mario wonder is literally #2 trending on YouTube.
If they’re canceling that far in advance, why not just say it’s gone for good? When was the last actual E3 presentation, 2019?
I’m not gonna say E-3 is good as dead, I’m saying that E-3 has had a few setbacks when COVID happened and things started to be really different because of it. If most gaming companies don’t want E-3 right now, then I understand what choices that they have to make. E-3 used to be one of the best, but I think now most gaming companies are burnout from it. We all deserved something different besides E-3.
Never been to PAX but maybe e3 needs to be a southern california version. There was a year that e3 did a fan event called e for all and maybe they should pivot to that. whatever comepang wants to show up can.
Just officially declare E3 dead already. If this news piece doesn’t serve as a sign of E3’s bleak ‘future’ then I don’t know what will.
