It’s that time of the week again where its time to find out how video gaming hardware and physical gaming software did in Japan. Famitsu has decided to release the latest boxed video game and hardware charts. This time, it’s for for the week of July 17th to 23rd. As usual, both of these sales charts are followed by lifetime sales.
This week included the launch of Pikmin 4 on the Nintendo Switch, which debuted on the charts at #1. Believe it or not, out of the 10 games listed on the software sales chart, 8 of them are Switch games. Meanwhile, the OLED model of Nintendo’s hybrid console was #1 on the hardware sales charts. Lool Switch is still out selling the more powerful ps5. I have a ps5 but i wish i didnt as there isnt anything to play except my old ps4 games. I like how this site will make a big deal out of ps5 out selling Switch but when switch continues to dominate it is so quiet.
Because Switch being on top of sales doesn’t make for interesting or clickbait news when it is regularly #1 in units sold.

You are not crazy. This is more than 1,2,3 debuts combined in Japan. The series sells a little over 1-1.5mil every time. So to have .4M in one week in one territory (probably 25-40% of global figure) is fantastic for Pikmin.
Also I just realized, this is just Physical sales too, so the real one week number is probably closer to a million

This site doesn’t make a big deal of PS5 out selling switch, they make a big deal if anyone even mentions PlayStation period and yet this site post articles that specifically mention PlayStation “just don’t post about PlayStation in the comment section”
