Metroid Prime 4 reportedly contains massive areas to explore, though not open world

Samus in Metroid Prime Remastered for Switch

Details on the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4 are certainly hard to come by as everyone at Retro Studios and Nintendo remain tight lipped about the project. However, XboxEra co-founder, Nick Baker, recently spoke about the game on the Xbox podcast after reportedly learning new information from his sources. Baker says that the game is set to feature massive open areas to explore, which he likened to the Xbox game Halo Infinite, though the game itself won’t be an open world adventure. This makes sense as the tech has moved on a lot since the days of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on the Wii. Baker also says the visuals and environments in Metroid Prime 4 reportedly look unbelievable.

“In addition to the game looking “visually unbelieveable”, said source also claims that Metroid Prime 4 will also feature “big, massive” areas. Baker says that though he doesn’t believe the game is going to be open world, it will have significantly larger areas than previous titles in the series. According to Baker, the person seeing the game in action apparently said that the size of the environments reminded them of Halo Infinite’s “big and open” environments- though Halo Infinite really was open world, of course.”

  1. I have a hard time believing that, since big, open levels just don’t really make much sense for Metroid level design.

Unless “big levels” just means “big biomes”. In which case, yeah, probably.

  2. Ah, another word on Schrödinger’s Game. While a rumor is technically something regarding this game, said game both exists and does not exist until we, the players and fans, actually see it.

    1. I’ve always thought Prime 4 would be held for the switch 2 – the visuals are the most demanding of any Nintendo series, so it deserved the HD treatment!

  3. WHO need open world fps? Gime coridors! Dungeons! Small areas with better graphic :)
I dont need searching hidden items hundreds of hours like in zelda Botw :(

    1. Don’t say that! I would love this game to be open world, I love playing a single player games that take hours to finish. that is why I love Batman Arkham Knight and Spider-Man games from PlayStation. if this game has like side missions and main missions that will be cool.

  4. It shocks me that someone from a competing company talks about a game that does not concern them directly or indirectly?
