Hideki Kamiya says Bayonetta will probably continue despite departure

The departure of Hideki Kamiya from Platinum Games was something many of us didn’t see coming. Talking in his Youtube series, Kamiya talked a little more about the acclaimed Bayonetta. He said that he thought there would be around nine Bayonetta games and says that he will most likely take the full saga to the grave with him. However, he thinks that Platinum Games will most likely want the Bayonetta series to continue.

“I’ve talked about this in various interviews, that the Bayonetta series would consist of a total of nine episodes, and that I wanted to grow the franchise as the ‘Bayonetta Saga’, but it seems like I may have to take the full saga to the grave with me. It’s a shame. It’s not like I own the Bayonetta IP, but I suppose those who do will probably keep it going.”

  1. Tbh if b3 was the way it was because he wasn’t part of it I don’t know if I’ll go forward playing…. The characters didn’t feel like they where before and yes I know it’s a separate universe but the writing was still bad…. The lore contradicts itself. The artstyle went for a more realistic look singularity nonsense and a multiverse that was halfbaked…..

Tbh the true games started and ended with 1-2

B3 was just an addition playing as another bayonetta

    1. I’m pretty sure he was more involved in Bayo 3 than Bayonetta 2, which is what most people, especially casuals like to claim is the best in the franchise, (I’m personally a bigger fan of 1). I honestly think Kamiya himself was the issue with this game, he seems to want to cram in a lot of lore all in at once, has really grand ideas he either doesn’t have the budget or skills to pull off with the title. I mean we basically know a lot of this game was reworked from being an almost open world game! It also doesn’t help he wanted to speed run a multiverse, a relationship, a child and passing of the torch story all at the same time. I genuinely think the next Bayonetta titles could be better without him….(A repeat of Devil May Cry would be ironic.)

    1. You’re just saying that BS because Nintendo is the only company saving the Bayonetta franchise. I’m looking forward to three Bayonetta titles remastered in 4K (docked mode) on Nintendo’s next generation hybrid or home console.

  2. Can’t we just diagnose Bayonetta with dead already? How come this lewd, vulgar, sacrilegious fetus keeps getting new titles and Mega Man doesn’t? It’s bad enough Sonic still exists despite doing nothing worthwhile with the IP for the last 10+ years.
