Epic Games exec says he’s tried to bring Nintendo characters to Fortnite

Epic Games Fortnite continues to prove to be an absolute juggernaut which an incredible large user base and they have had some fantastic collaborations with a range of major brands. However, Nintendo is one company which has yet to bring any of its beloved characters to the free-to-play game. That is not for lack of trying as Epic Games executive Saxs Persson revealed recently. Persson said that they have reached out to the Kyoto-based company about bringing their characters to Fortnite, but it has yet to happen. I suspect they will continue to try.

“I don’t know what the word for, like, making diamonds is. Nintendo has their strategy, and we have our strategy, and we hope at some point to use their characters. Our players would love it.”

  1. They once tried to bring Samus Aran to Fortnite as a exclusive skin for Nintendo Switch, but it was rejected by Nintendo. So, if Epic Games are still trying to bring one of their Nintendo characters into Fortnite, then it seems like they are not giving up hope and they want to see it happen in Fortnite.

  2. This will never happen, because Nintendo values their characters unlike other companies. This is why you won’t see them in other modern trash games like Street Fighter, Fortnite or Mortal Kombat. Also, I don’t want to see Mario or any other Nintendo character in a shooter game (which is why I dislike Mario and Rabbids.)

    1. I agree that it seems like Nintendo doesn’t put their characters in 3rd party franchises much. A memorable exception is the GameCube version of SoulCalibur II, which featured link. Otherwise it usually doesn’t happen unless Nintendo’s IP shares the spotlight (Mario & Sonic, Mario + Rabbids) or if it’s something very minor (like Nintendo skins for the Switch version of Minecraft).
