US: Many first party Nintendo games seemingly going out of print

A number of high profile first party Nintendo games are seemingly going out of print, at least in North America. The news was spotted by Nintendeal with some retailers removing the listed games below from their inventory. It is not clear why this is happening, but there’s the prospect that they could be introduced as Nintendo Select titles seeing as the Nintendo Switch’s successor is presumably on the horizon.

  • Paper Mario: The Origami King
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (2019)
  • Pikmin 3 Deluxe
  • Metroid Dread
  • Kirby Star Allies
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 2
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
  • Fire Emblem: Three Houses
  • Fire Emblem: Engage
  • Yoshi’s Crafted World
  • WarioWare: Get it Together!
  • Nintendo Switch Sports
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Splatoon 2
  • Super Mario Maker 2
  • Mario Strikers: Battle League

  1. they always release selects at the end of the console cycle… how is this making the rounds on the news cycle? like as if they would make Splatoon 2 a Selects title.

  2. There are still a lot of very old games, it doesn’t mean anything and you may be looking too far especially if it only concerns North America…

    1. Of course, it is one one of the top 10 most sold games on the Switch. What amazes me is that Super Mario Odyssey and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, that are on the top 10 sales, are on the list. Maybe they are not selling as much lately.

  3. Well at least I have every single one of these except four, and of those four, I really may only want Super Mario Maker 2. I just hope they don’t end up making Selects. I hate those covers.
