In 9 months from now, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be officially premiering in theaters. Marketing of the film has been little so far, but we know that it will feature the appearance of Shadow the Hedgehog. Ever since last fall, the third Sonic movie has been in the process of filming.
Well, that is now no longer the case. James Marsden, who plays Tom Wachowski in the Sonic movies, has confirmed in a video from The Playlist that the film has officially wrapped the filming phase of its production. The movie premieres on December 20th. You can see a tweet relaying the news down below.

Why don’t you get in contact with Sega and ask them yourself if they can start on a Mega Man movie? Maybe they’ll listen, maybe they won’t.

And so can this trilogy, unless SEGA demands more box office money, from the only real franchise they care about. Maybe their fourth film will be an original plot (not based on existing Sonic games, not even Frontiers) that doesn’t reek of Garfield/Smurfs/Alvin & The Chipmunks writing.
Maybe they should go into animated films focusing on their other IPs, because I can’t picture the likes of NiGHTS into Dreams, Samba de Amigo, Billy Hatcher, Super Monkey Ball, Jet Set Radio, Ristar, Space Channel 5, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Phantasy Star/Online, and Chuchu Rocket working in live-action AND appealing to the same wide audience as Sonic.
I would really love a Phantasy Star movie if taken seriously and made for older audiences.
