Japan: Princess Peach Showtime! continues to reign supreme

The latest Japanese boxed-video game software and hardware charts have come through from the Land of the Rising Sun and there’s no change at the top this week for Princess Peach: Showtime! Nintendo’s latest title sold an additional 27K physical copies, fending off Rise of the Ronin which sold 20K physical copies. The best-selling video game system was the Nintendo Switch family of systems selling an additional 57,533 units, Sony’s PlayStation 5 sold 20,846 units and the Xbox Series X|S sold 1,376 units.

  1. Princess Peach Showtime! might be no.1, but the numbers are poor. For a 1st party Nintendo title, they’re atrocious. Sure they’re different teams and franchises, but the last new original game from Nintendo late last year was Super Mario Bros. Wonder and that sold 638,000 copies in its opening weekend. The gap is gargantuan.

    Winning Post 10 2024 is a flop like countless 3rd party Switch ports before it.
