Today, SEGA announced its latest campaign Fearless: Year of Shadow to celebrate the amazing fans of Sonic and Shadow. Last year, SEGA launched the Fast. Friends. Forever program, which highlighted the special bond that Sonic and friends Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose share with their fans.
This year the focus shifts to everyone’s favorite brooding hedgehog, Shadow, who is set to star in the upcoming video game, SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS, as well as the highly anticipated movie, “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”, later this year. The campaign celebrates what it means to be Fearless and embracing your inner Shadow by bravely facing challenges head on.
The Fearless: Year of Shadow continues throughout the year with a variety of action-packed activations including:
- Motorcycle Tour – Check out the custom-built Shadow-inspired motorcycle, set to appear at MotoGP and more! Stay tuned for future dates and follow the Fearless website for more locations!
- MotoGP – Come see Shadow’s motorcycle at our display in the MotoGP Fan Zone this weekend in Austin, TX and again in the UK this August. Stay for some fearless motorcycle action at the world premier event. Get your tickets here!
- Shadow X Sonic Generations
- Shadow the Hedgehog is back with Classic and Modern Sonic in SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS, an all-new collection featuring two unique experiences! Play as Shadow the Hedgehog in a brand-new story campaign and tackle iconic 2D and 3D stages as Classic and Modern Sonic in a newly remastered version of SONIC GENERATIONS.

- Play the Fearless mobile events in Sonic Forces and Sonic Dash for a chance to unlock powerful Shadow variants including Super Shadow, Vampire Shadow, Sir Lancelot, and Dragon Hunter Lancelot!

Shadow pancakes is wild
This seems like the equivalent of the year of Luigi but less wow factor, like why are we getting a year of shadow when we
have tails and knuckles who are like the two most important characters in sonic history aside from eggman, this is just an obvious tie in for sonic 3 movie and sonic x shadow game coming out later this year.
I mean looking back on it, how much wow factor was there into the Year of Luigi? Yes he did get some games themed about him, but only Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon was really special since it was the first LM game since the GameCube. Super Luigi U, Luigi Bros, and Dr. Luigi are all reskins. I guess you can count M&L Dream Team too into the year which adds a bit more to it.
I think Shadow is deserving of a year. Yes it is an obvious tie in for the movie and game, but I think that actually adds worth to calling it “Year of Shadow”.
Yeah that’s exactly what I’m saying maybe I’m just salty because tails and knuckles didn’t get first dibs yet on a year dedicated to them, it’s still early in the year and who knows what surprises we could expect from shadow.
So… we are going to see a remake of Shadow the Hedgehog or maybe even a sequel soon right? 🤔
Why bother, Sega stopped using him for a lot of stories lately or his characteristics just flipflopped so many times from anti-hero to full villain for no goddamn reason. Sega doesn’t even know what to do with him in the first place since people complained that he is a Sonic clone. What a waste of a character. Hell, Vegeta, the character Sega copied, has more personality than Shadow.
The trailer is awesome, love the bmx bikes but would have been better if they did better tricks.
