Former bank robber accused of faking PSA gradings for Pokemon cards

After serving six years for his role in one of America’s most infamous car heists, Anthony Curcio appeared to have turned his life around. He became a motivational speaker, addressing the importance of drug abuse prevention and positive life choices at schools and universities. However, recent events suggest Curcio may have reverted to his old ways. According to a report from Fox 13 Seattle, Curcio and his accomplice, Iosif Bondarchuk, were arrested for allegedly scamming buyers out of £2 million through fake PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) gradings for rare Pokémon and sports cards. Although the cards were genuine, the duo reportedly inflated their value by falsifying their PSA gradings.

Their scheme, which lasted around two years, began to unravel after they sold a 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card for $171,700 at a Manhattan auction. The card, supposedly graded PSA 10, raised suspicions when the PSA company denied any involvement in its grading. Further investigation revealed Bondarchuk sold a 1999 first-edition Venusaur card to an undercover law enforcement officer for $10,500 in 2023.

  1. Interesting move from Nintendo keeping third-party docks open could really help innovation and affordability for users. It also gives accessory makers confidence to design safely without worrying about sudden lockouts, which is great for long-term support. On a side note, staying informed across different topics matters too, whether it’s tech updates or things like Hays County litigation that impact real-world decisions. Overall, this approach feels more consumer-friendly and could strengthen trust in the Switch ecosystem.

  2. Cases like this highlight how fraud can surface in unexpected niches, even within collectible markets. Staying informed about legal processes helps people understand how such allegations are investigated and prosecuted. Resources that explain procedures around Bergen County Trials can offer useful context on how evidence, charges, and defenses are handled. Transparency and awareness are key to protecting both consumers and the integrity of the hobby.
