Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, & Amy coming to Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble as SEGA Pass DLC

SEGA is proud to announce that, as part of the SEGA Pass DLC, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble will welcome four playable characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise to the roster! Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch family of systems on 25 June 2024.

Get ready to race, roll, and spin dash with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy as they join AiAi and the gang in their epic adventure! All four characters will be playable across both Adventure Mode and Battle Mode, each with unique stats to help them on the courses. Plus, for these characters only, all in-game pick-ups will switch from bananas to Gold Rings in further homage to the classic franchise.

Fans who purchase the Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble Digital Deluxe Edition on the Nintendo eShop for £59.99 will receive both the standard edition of the game and the SEGA Pass, which includes a total of SIX playable characters – Sonic, Tails, Knuckles Amy, and two additional playable characters – from iconic SEGA franchises, along with a set of 15 bonus SEGA-themed character customization items.

The SEGA Pass will also be available as a separate purchase for £22.29, so those who choose the Digital Deluxe Edition will save on the bundle! All content is scheduled to be released over the coming months.

  1. I took a look at the game’s eShop page. There’s something like 15 DLC packs planned for this thing apparently, including character and cosmetic packs.

I love Monkey Ball and bought Banana Mania on Day 1, but I’ll probably wait a minute on this one, for both cautionary and budgetary reasons.

    1. No doubt, I’ve accepted that they will never make monkey ball great like the first and the second one already

      1. Yeah weird that you’d prefer the kid focused game from when you were a kid. More people need to remove the nostalgia goggles. My wife and I love monkey ball and don’t really stick to one title more than any other. They’re all fun. It’s monkey ball, not the legend of Zelda.

        1. what “nostalgia goggles” are you talking about? Nostalgia goggles for a game I played 3 years ago for the first time? Also I know why your name is “no goggles here” cause you totally can’t see how much damage they did to this franchise, the style the music the backgrounds all became generic as shit and they are a joke compared to the first two games.

  2. Hearing about dlc before a game launch is wild and I hate that it’s starting to become the norm because it feels like a weird incentive to keep people playing and it gives consumers the feeling that the game isn’t completely finish, announcing dlc should at least be a few months after a game has release

  3. What a rip-off. The game releases this month, yet this won’t be ready for June??

And both Sonic and Tails were in Banana Mania for free (and Sonic in Banana Blitz HD too). Bet they will make us pay for the other non-SMB characters too, and both Kitty and Suezo won’t be coming back.

  4. if this content was already available in the base game that’s one thing, but trying to sell it as a paid dlc for 22.29 pounds is ridiculous.
