GameCube prototype Nintendo Dolphin resurfaces on social media

Social media account Console Variations have published a new photo of the GameCube prototype which was named Nintendo Dolphin before it was finalised as the GameCube. The team says that the product is so rare that they were not allowed to upload the image until now. They promise to share more photos of the Nintendo Dolphin hardware very soon.

Thanks to MasterPikachu6 for sending in the news tip!

  1. Cool, I love these kind of stories. Old video game prototypes and unreleased games are exciting to see when they are posted online especially because of how rare the occasion usually is.

      1. They have flat out said the switch 2’s code name. They said internally it’s being referred to as both the Switch 2 and the Switch successor.

        1. Just looked. The only mention of the next generation, Nintendo called it the Switch successor as in the next device, not that it was its codename. Also they never called it the Switch 2. I’m sure eventually the codename will surface, but they would never use a name that generic.

  2. I still remember reading about rumors in gaming magazines about Nintendo’s next big console codenamed: Dolphin… good times!
