  1. the last thing i want is to modernize my good old retro consoles, i got my pc with emulators or my miyoo mini if i want to experience old games with modern resolutions, but im sure there is a market for this

      1. like i said, if i want the original experience i just use my original n64, this is very pricy at the end of the day and what it does is play original n64 games on a motherboard that emulates the hardware with higher resolution, the analogue pocket made way more sense cause it allows you to run a lot of systems with no emulation required and you can take it everywhere, this stays home and basically does what a computer with an emulator can do, sure hardware emulation is better than software, but 250 just for that isn’t worth it for me, i have an n64 emulator on my pc and the real hardware with a crt next to my bed, i think im good, good product just not for me.

    1. It plays them in original resolution with various upscale filter options to simulate how a CRT TV displays N64 signals, which the majority of N64 games designed their graphics around.

  2. excuse me? “The first and perhaps greatest multiplayer system of all time.” this is so far from the first multiplayer system… by a couple decades at least… how very dare you

  3. Im just picturing someone who owns this. It’s for an older adult with money. They probably don’t have friends come over to play N64 with them so they cant brag about it much. They better really love and actively play a lot of N64 alone. Not that it isnt cool. It definitely only plays N64 so they also have enough N64 games to go spending 250. There many easier ways to play N64. Analogues difference in quality compared to those will also be lost on almost everybody. Not too many are geeking out that much about the N64 in 2024.
To me it’s a lot like modernizing a portable DVD player. Look at that screen bro!

  4. As a retro gamer, I’m honestly excited about this announcement. For me, this is just another cool way to go back to old games – even though, to be fair, I’m more used to playing on the original hardware or through emulators. What really interests me though, is all those retro games I used to love that are now either impossible to find or just really hard to track down. Especially some weird, almost forgotten gambling games I used to collect – but now I can’t even remember most of their names. These days, if I want to play something card-based or similar, I just search for reviews like this – https://somagyarkaszino.com/kaszino-velemenyek/my-empire-kaszino/ – and end up trying modern versions. But honestly, it’s not the same at all. Playing on a phone or a PC with modern graphics just gives a completely different vibe. Those old games had a unique atmosphere – the retro pixels, the clunky gameplay, the synth music… I really miss that. So any new way to legally and easily get back to that feeling is a huge win for me.
