SEGA to open store alongside Nintendo Tokyo, Capcom store, and Pokemon Center

SEGA has revealed in a new interview that it has plans to open its very own store in Japan at Shibuya’s Parco department complex, which is the same building as Nintendo Tokyo, the official Capcom store, and the Pokemon Center, are currently located. SEGA says it will also open a second SEGA store in Shanghai, China. Here’s what SEGA’s transmedia boss, Justin Scarpone, told VGC:

“Our portfolio is very broad, but the common thread is the Sega brand. Sega already has a surprising amount of fandom as a brand, and we need to look after those fans and offer new experiences to them, while putting the stamp of Sega on it more proudly.”

“If you go to retail today, you don’t see ‘Sega’ enough. For example, we’re opening a Sega store next summer in [Tokyo’s] Parco. There will be a Sega store. We’re also going to be doing a similar project in Shanghai, where we’ll have a store there as well via a partner.

“It’s really exciting and we need to do a lot more of that, because Sega is a consumer brand that is surprisingly not in front of consumers enough. Sonic is, but Sega isn’t. That’s one of 35 things I’m working on right now!”

    1. Is it all a competition for you people? Sega is killing it recently. And I bet a sega store is gonna do great, they got sonic, yakuza and persona, these ip’s are already successful here in the west you have no idea how big they are there

      1. Bigger than Mario, animal crossing, metroid, splatoon, the legend of zelda, super smash bros, fire emblem, donkey kong, Pokémon and kirby?

        No way!!!

        1. Bro, who the fuck told you I’ve ever said that? THE 90’S ARE OVER BUDDY it’s been a long time since Nintendo and sega were competing with eachother, can we stop caring about this? Can we STOP pretending that these two companies are still enemies when sega has been doing exlusive games for Nintendo non stop since the early 2000’s? Them opening a store doesn’t mean they are trying to compete with Nintendo, they are just opening a store to profit off their brands, that’s it.

  1. At least it’s not another no-good crossover between Nintendo and Sega without Capcom, but does this company ever shut up?
