Yakuza studio: Yakuza Kiwami on Switch is selling like hotcakes” predicted numbers too conservative

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Director, Masayoshi Yokoyama, has said in a recent live broadcast that the newly released Yakuza Kiwami for the Nintendo Switch family of systems is currently “selling like hotcakes.” Yokoyama went on to say that “the executives of the company were predicting the number of units. I missed it by a long shot. I think I looked at it a bit too conservatively.” The game is only available digitally via the Nintendo eShop, though Limited Run Games will be producing a physical edition at a later date.

  1. Im not surprised, switch has a massive amount of users, a lot of teenagers, young adults and adults who are enjoying this kind of games… I cant wait for the physical version

  2. Maybe this means they will port the others, the ones that can run on the Switch without it breaking a sweat?

    1. Or ideally bring some of the old games to the current switch and the new ones coming out day and date with the switch successor.

  3. Remember when he said they weren’t going to release Yakuza games on Switch due to it being a “family friendly” console (even though Bayonetta, Fatal Frame, Doom and The Witcher are a thing)?

Yeah, what goes around comes around.

  4. Great to hear Yakuza Kiwami is thriving on the Switch! It’s impressive how strong digital sales are, even surpassing predictions. Fans are clearly loving it, and the upcoming physical edition will definitely keep the momentum going.
