Take Two CEO’s expectations for Switch successor: “I never count Nintendo out”

Nintendo‘s next console isn’t just something that’s making fans curious on what it will be like. Third-party companies are also very interested to see what Nintendo has planned for their next hardware. That includes companies such as Take-Two, who have released games on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch.

You see, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about Nintendo’s next console. In particular, he was asked about the recent news about the console having backwards compatibility. In response, Zelnick said that “you’re always competing with everything, and you’re competing with yourself. Also, backward compatibility is good for our catalogue, and we think we have the highest selling catalogue per SKU in the business”. As for what his expectations are for the Switch successor, Zelnick simply said that “I never count Nintendo out”.

  1. He is right to be skeptical, if Nintendo reproduces the same mistakes as with the 3DS / Wii U, the successor will be a failure.

      1. It’s just Nintendo’s worst-selling handheld console… barely a third of its predecessor, for Nintendo it is a failure

        1. It sold 75mil units. Mario Kart alone shifted 18mil. Trust me, for Nintendo, its not a failure.
          Stop throwing nonsense

        2. Sofiona… selling 75.94 milion units and being the 12 most sold console in the history of the videogame industry, is defenetly not a failure, yes, the ds sold way more but nintendo still made a ton of money with the 3ds. you sound absolutely terrified that the switch 2 will not be as succesful as the og switch, which let’s be real, this could totally happen, but the switch is the third most console in the world, even if the switch 2 doesn’t surpass it and gets close to those sales it would still be a total success. You can believe that this new console is not a switch revision but im feeling like this idea stems from a fear that makes absolutely no sense at all.
