Nintendo now owns 100% of Monolith Soft

The official Monolith Soft website has confirmed that Nintendo now owns 100% of the acclaimed RPG developer. Monolith Soft was was originally created with investment from Bandai Namco to work on the Xenogears video game franchise. Nintendo then decided to purchase 80% of Monolith Soft’s shares from Bandai Namco and subsequently increased their stake to 96% back in 2011. Monolith Soft founders have since retained their 4% stake in the company, but that has now since changed and Nintendo fully owns the entire company.

  1. Surprisingly, there is no real difference between owning 96 or 100% at the level of a company as long as we are the majority…
On the other hand, there is a mistake, Bandai Namco still held a stake since 2011 (2% it seems to me)

  2. Well, 4% isn’t a lot, but I hope that with those owners now completely out of the picture and Nintendo owning 100%, Monolith can keep doing what they’ve been doing so far. Hopefully, Nintendo doesn’t try to make them ‘more efficient’ or focus more on monetization.

    1. Obtaining the 4% doesn’t change anything in fact… since Nintendo was already the majority shareholder; they can do whatever they want from the beginning…
The reason would be, for me, is that Takahashi will leave in a short time.

  3. With Nintendo now owning 100% of Monolith Soft, the gaming world is buzzing about the exciting future of their collaboration. Much like playing a game well and enjoying a Delecious Meal, this acquisition promises a blend of excellence in both gaming and creativity. Think of Nintendo as the chef, carefully crafting games with the precision and care of a master cook, while Monolith Soft provides the perfectly seasoned ingredients that bring depth, story, and expansive worlds to life.
