Japan: Nintendo’s average annual salary decreased in 2024, still ranked 2nd

Japanese business journal Diamond Online has revealed that Nintendo continues to rank second when it comes to paying the highest average annual salary among Japanese companies. It should be noted that this is for businesses based in the Kansai region, excluding Osaka. Nintendo offers on average an annual salary of 9.627 million yen and was the only video game company to be included in the top five. However, the Kyoto-based company continues to be relegated to second by the semiconductor manufacturer, Screen Holdings.

“Nintendo’s annual salary actually decreased by 2.3% in the 2024 fiscal year, despite the company seeing a 4.4% boost in net sales and 4.9% increase in operating profit during the term. Diamond Online speculated that the salary decrease reflects the drop in net sales (-5.5%) and operating profit (-14.9%) Nintendo saw in the 2023 fiscal year.” – Automaton Media

  1. Interesting to see Nintendo still holding strong at second place despite the slight dip. That average of 9.627 million yen is impressive, especially since they’re the only game company in the top five. It shows they’re still committed to attracting top talent, even if Screen Holdings has edged ahead.

On a completely different note, if you’re ever looking for practical guides on everyday tasks like checking salary card balances or managing finances, I’ve found khaleejhow.com to be a surprisingly useful resource. It offers clear, straightforward explanations for things that can otherwise be a bit confusing. Anyway, it’s always good to see companies in creative industries valuing their employees with competitive pay. Thanks for sharing the update!
