Ex-PlayStation boss Shawn Layden shares thoughts on Switch 2 name

Ex-PlayStation boss Shawn Layden who is highly recognisable in the video games industry has shared his thoughts on the Nintendo Switch 2 name during an interview with the ‘Kiwi Talkz’ hosted by Reece Reilly. Layden agrees that Nintendo made a wise decision naming the Switch 2 and the praise for the Kyoto-based company doesn’t stop there as Mr. Layden gushed about the “respect” that Nintendo invokes when it comes to video games and says that he believes “they will continue to be successful.”

“They’ve [Nintendo] created so much brand value in the word Switch, why would you mess with that?”

“Everyone respects Nintendo, they’re a competitor but you respect everything they’ve done to create this industry that now we all enjoy and love, so I think they’ll keep on keeping on and the way they do it, they’ve got the right people around it, the right attitude around it.”

“…they’ve been in this business a long time, they’ve seen all the peaks and valleys…they will continue to be successful”

    1. What are you on about? He lead Sony through one its most successful PS generations. He’s the reason why PS was on top, and deservingly so. PS is a joke now, and it has nothing to do with him.

  1. I want Switch 2 to kill it. Nintendo being on top of the video game industry is what’s best for business. Also, I’m hoping the Switch 2 ends up being Ninty’s PS2 by becoming the best sold video game system, if Switch doesn’t somehow do it first. (Doubtful with NS2 incoming & Sony somehow finding more PS2 sales. If they pull more sales outta their ass when Switch 2 gets close to outselling PS2, something really is up.)

  2. Nintendo’s naming strategy is as smart as a well-timed birthday surprise! For gamers celebrating, pair the Switch 2 hype with a playful birthday wish like 21 geburtstag sprüche kurz “May your year be as legendary as a Nintendo launch—zero glitches, max joy!
