Recent filings from the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) has revealed that the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console will feature both Wi-Fi 6 and NFC for amiibo support. Sadly the console doesn’t appear to feature the newer Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6E nor the faster / shorter-range 6GHz band. The NFC function will be located in the right Joy-Con like the current Nintendo Switch.
FCC filings show Nintendo Switch 2 features NFC and Wi-Fi 6

This is exciting about the NFC support. (Amiibo should never die lol) don’t know much about Wifi to comment. But I’m sure we will be fine.
Easiest explanation is that WiFi 6 is better than WiFi 5.
Faster, wider range, broader support and more secure.
If you want to get deeper, then WiFi 6 support both 5GHz, and 2.4GHz antennas. Both these frequencies are the most common ones. There’s also Wifi6e that also supports 6GHz antennas but, unfortunately, this isn’t the one on the switch 2.
In terms of how new Wifi6 is, in terms of tech, it’s pretty dated now. We’re up to Wifi7 with Wifi8 around the corner.
Of course, you could have a WiFi6 device and a crappy Modem or router that bottlenecks you. Making having wifi7 pointless.
Agree… Amiibos should never die. I just wish they used them in multiple games like in the WiiU era… Mario Maker, Smash, Amiibo Tab, MK8, etc.
amiibros we are so back. get your smash 4 figures out boys.
We are so back guys. Amiibo returns.
Just remember they basically had to do this because of backwards compatibility. They could still decide to not continue making new amiibo
I have like a billion amiibo so this is amazing news for me lol
Doesn’t mean much to most people. The majority of people with internet have speeds closer to 5mb/s, so only a few people benefit from those faster technologies.
I hope Nintendo implemented the ability to turn off the switch using only the controller this time when in docked mode rather than forcing everyone who prefer docked mode to have to hold the power button down on the switch 2.
I mostly play it in docked mode and It is annoying to constantly have to go over to the switch and hold the power button down just to completely shut down the power.
I’m genuinely curious, isn’t the biggest advantage of the Switch using an ARM chip is the instant resume from standby? Why would you bother fully turning it off especially when it’s on the dock with presumably wall power?
Hopefully this means better connection to mario kart live cars .
