Certain original Switch games to get free updates to improve playability on Switch 2

Nintendo has confirmed that some original Nintendo Switch games running on the Nintendo Switch 2 will get free updates to enhance them on the newer system. These games are separate from the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition original Switch games which have been specifically tailored and tinkered with for Nintendo Switch 2. You can find a list of these games down below, though it’s not clear whether this is the full list.

• Super Mario™ 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
• Clubhouse Games™: 51 Worldwide Classics
• The Legend of Zelda™: Link’s Awakening

• Game Builder Garage™
• New Super Mario Bros.™ U Deluxe
• Pokémon™ Scarlet
• Pokémon™ Violet
• Big Brain Academy™: Brain vs. Brain

  1. I’m glad Game Builder Garage is getting an update for Switch 2, unlike how Media Molecule treated Dreams by leaving it forever on the PS4 rather than giving us the PC and PS5 port

    1. If I’m not mistaken I believe Xenoblade Chronicles X already has a hidden locked features already on the cartridge.
      I think it will most likely automatically unlock if played on switch 2, at least that’s my guess given the info already datamined from the game.
