Bloomberg: Nintendo seemingly stockpiling millions of Switch 2 consoles from Vietnam for US launch

Bloomberg has shed a little more light on the manufacturing process for their upcoming behemoth, the Nintendo Switch 2, which is scheduled to launch worldwide on 5th June. Customs data obtained by Bloomberg has shown that the company has been importing 750k original Nintendo Switch console units from Vietnam which were destined for the United States of America in February 2025 alone. This suggests that Nintendo is building a lucrative stockpile of millions of Switch 2 consoles from the Southeast Asian country in time for the Nintendo Switch 2’s June 2025 launch. Bloomberg says that Nintendo is the only console maker in the country and is naturally ramping up its output for the big day.

    1. I definitely voted for an actual leader who has brought a country (in this case Vietnam) to the negotiations table to lower the tariffs placed on the USA which somehow placing tariffs on the USA not a bad thing yet placing tariffs on said country is “bad”.

      1. The U.S. is a consumer economy. And not a developing nation.

You export many things. But rely mostly on software and weapons. Vietnam has tariffs on things like meat/ automobiles. Why? Because they use that money to protect their own meat industry as well as use the money to develop their nation. I doubt the U.S. imports a lot of meat from Vietnam. But what do you import? Consoles. And electronics. Things that you don’t make at home.

But the reality is that most Vietnamese people still can’t afford most goods that come from the U.S.

Now, if you want to pay an extra 10% as of now and potentially 45% based on the earlier tariffs then cool cool fool.

The tariffs are not because Vietnam has tariffs. Trump is putting them because there is a deficit. U.S. buys more from Vietnam’s than Vietnam buys from the U.S. but now we’re back to Vietnam being a developing nation. What the hell could it buy from the U.S.???

  1. I think the NS2 won’t be nearly as hard to get on day 1 as NS1. Nintendo has gone on record saying they plan to ship more than NS1 to prevent scalpers, and the high price means not as many people can afford it right away. It’ll just sell the hardcore gamers at first and not a casual crowd. Only about a quarter of the NS1 owners I know plan to get it on day 1.

    1. Nintendo Switch was actually very easy to get day 1, I remember thinking about it for a few hours when preorders went live before I ordered. People were very skeptical of the system when it was first revealed, and I even recall people laughing at it.
