Japan: Konami now one of most sought-after employers due to rise in popularity

Video game publisher and developer Konami is now one of the most sought after employers in the Land of the Rising Sun after a big untick in popularity after its affirmation to develop big AAA video games such as the Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill franchises. This news comes thanks to a new Japanese survey which was conducted between October 2024 and March 2025. The sample size “consisted of over 25,000 liberal arts students and over 10,000 sciences students.” Automaton Media reports that the most popular employer among liberal arts majors this year was Bandai Namco, which ranked 9th with Konami jumping all the way from 31st to 10th on the list of Japanese companies “most desired employers among Japanese university and graduate students expected to graduate and begin working in March 2026.”

  1. Sure, as long as they keep making video games and don’t go back to exclusively making pachinko machines. They used to be one of the biggest third party companies, and they’ve been slowly getting more popular again.

  2. Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 Remakes are Souless Cash grabs, they don’t actually care about those franchises. They don’t care about the Quality of the Yu-Gi-Oh Card Game, they don’t care about Video Games, they don’t care about the employees, consumers. Only money

  3. Would like to know why the students think that, can’t just be the ‘revival’ of MGS and SH, on that topic I hope Konami do something about the PS5 Pro ‘fix’ because it seems Bloober have given up on the game
