Demand for the Nintendo Switch 2 is at a fever pitch in the Land of the Rising Sun and it seems scammers are capitalising on this by sending out phishing emails purporting to be from Nintendo. Japanese consumers have a chance of entering the My Nintendo Store lottery to secure a Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. Emails are being sent out by scammers telling people that they have won and to presumably enter their credit card payment details etc. Nintendo says that the actual results will actually be sent out later today.
“We have confirmed the existence of a phishing email purporting to be the result of the Nintendo Switch 2 lottery sale on the My Nintendo Store. The lottery results are due to be emailed today, but have not yet been sent. Please note that those received to date have not been sent by us.”

It shows that scammers understand consumer psychology very well. Luckily they didn’t send me the letter. Because I was also really looking forward to getting a Switch 2. Very easy to fool.
Scammers always seem to strike when excitement is high—especially with major product launches like the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s important for consumers to double-check the source of such emails and avoid entering any personal or payment information unless it’s confirmed to be official. Always verify directly through the My Nintendo Store to stay safe.
