Nintendo confirms issue with system update 20.0.0 bricking some consoles (update)

Update: Nintendo has just released Version 20.0.1 to help fix this issue.

Nintendo released the hefty Version 20.0.0 Nintendo Switch system update recently and unfortunately it would seem as though some users are having extreme problems when updating their system. Version 20.0.0 is unfortunately bricking some Switch consoles with Error Code: 2206-1015 appearing on system start up stopping the device from working. Nintendo has now acknowledged the issue on X and says that they are currently looking into the situation.

“We are currently receiving inquiries from some customers about the occurrence of “Error Code: 2206-1015″ after updating to Nintendo Switch system version 20.0.0. We are currently investigating how to deal with this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience, and ask that you wait for further information.”

    1. We can’t play animal royale on Nintendo switch, because of the new update. Fix this problem Nintendo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😡😡😡😡😡

  1. I haven’t found any problems yet but I’m about to get the new switch and I need to transfer my data off of my OLED on to the new switch so that my dad can have the OLED we going to find out

    1. Drew Raymond Armstrong

Please don’t buy that, it tells Nintendo that its ok to sell a console for nearly 500$, and by doing so, they will just keep upping the price of new systems!

  2. They were able to fix it with a software patch, which means the system was never bricked, just broken.

    1. Pardon? No. Bricked is bricked, is recovery out of this error end user accessible? That’ll w not be bricked. Maybe the error is considering it a software patch when these are firmware updates. I’m hoping industries relying on these update distributions have got so cocky to no longer use phased rollouts

  3. My sons console wasn’t allowing him to download any of the game cards? It kept saying the primary console needed updating… which I did and still the same thing…

    1. I had the same issue, had to call nintendo customer support and they deregistered the switch as a primary/secondary and that fixed the issue.

  4. My oled switch won’t charge since new update been on charge for 5 hours just saying 1 percent but the charge bolt is on and not charging so can’t turn on system

    1. You’re not supposed to, but try finding AC phone charger. Plugged in and plugged your system. In that way, I had to do the same thing. And it reset whatever was wrong with mine. I got lucky now. It’ll charge in the dock. But before it wasn’t I had to take my fast charger. And yes, it’s not recommended because it can’t control the voltage. But that may be what’s wrong with it. It’s may not be taken at charge. Sorry, my messaging is bad. My hands are messed up. So I have to do the talk to speech function and my phone is horrible. I hope this helps.

  5. Horrible when any company updates their systems and unforseen issues like this arises for gamers!! Hopefully rectified soon, luckily I’ve updated three switches and not had any problems (two V.2 and one Oled) so hopefully a rare bug! Nothing worse than blocked from gaming!!!

  6. , i’ve updated 6 switches 1 v1 2 v2 and 2 oled and a lite and have had no issues can transfer and download all games on all switch no issues for me luckily 😀👌
