Nintendo details changes to Nintendo 64 Nintendo Classics app on Switch 2

Nintendo has revealed more about the changes coming to the Nintendo Classics app for Nintendo 64 games on the Nintendo Switch 2. Firstly, a new CRT filter will be added to the app to add a retro feel to your games, button remapping is also coming for each game’s controls, so you can tinker them to your liking, and finally the handy rewind feature will also be coming. It is not clear whether these features are exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 or if these features will roll out on both platforms.

  1. Now add Super GameBoy content to the GameBoy app, and let us make use of the transfer pak functionality.

  2. Comparable by nature

It’s about time they added rewind to N64 games, I really miss that function, and it’s more then late.

Finally N64 games can be enjoyable and the odd mistakes can be reversed, hopefully Gamecube games will have this feature too.

  3. In my opinion, these changes are exclusive, their aim is just to encourage players to migrate to the new switch.

    1. It’s pretty scummy, and they did a similar thing with SNES games on the 3DS too. I’m still upgrading, but there’s really no reason for these features and the GameCube app not to be on Switch 1.

        1. Did you reply to the wrong person? I hardly care, but doesn’t mean I can’t recognize it for what it is, lmao.

  4. You should be able to buy all old N64 titles and play them on switch. I miss some of the oldies that will never show up on switch otherwise.
