Pokemon Scarlet & Violet now 2nd best selling Pokemon game in history

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games

Nintendo has confirmed this morning that the latest Pokemon games for the Nintendo Switch family of systems, Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, have now shifted 26.79 million copies worldwide. This means that Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are now the second biggest Pokemon games after the Game Boy entries. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet didn’t get off to the best start performance and visual-wise. but that didn’t seem to deter people. Hopefully, the Nintendo Switch 2 free update will help eradicate most of the issues.

    1. Nah. Stuff like this doesn’t make me angry. I’m just disappointed that the games are so subpar. I’d be happy to play a good Pokemon game again.

      1. IM THE ONE HERE SEETHING. POKÈMON IS OVER! BRING ME BACK TO THE BLACK AND WHITE DAYS DAMNIT! CFG GET MAD THIS SERIES WAS GLORIOUS ONE TIME!!!!!!!!

  1. I have this game downloaded on my switch but I never played it. Will definitely play through it on the Switch 2 with the patch. I think it’ll be a way more enjoyable experience than what I saw online.

  2. Anonymous Skywalker

Really good games, poorly optimized though shiny hunting makes these issues not as bad. Can’t wait to play these on Switch 2 for the better optimization.

  3. Well, I’m not into Pokémon very much, but this news makes me half sad. I never played with Pokémon Scarlet / Violet, but if it’s really not so good as the news told, then it means the quality doesn’t matter for Pokémon fans. Now I can hope that Game Freak will take the fandom more seriously for the 10th generation, as a thanks for the commercial success.

  4. It’s honestly a shame that these games are marred with performance issues (that apparently will only be addressed on Switch 2) and 20-year-old graphics, and the core gameplay has barely evolved since the series’ inception, because the rest of the game is actually pretty great. Seriously, Scarlet & Violet might have the best story since Black & White and Paldea is actually a cool region to explore.

I genuinely don’t know what has to happen for TPC and GameFreak to get the message of “do better” besides people not buying their games, because we all know that’s not gonna happen; I fully acknowledge I’m part of that problem since I bought Violet.

  5. I played Pokémon series since the first one. SV is the best game in the series, don’t trust the hate campaign. Now I have +1400h playing the game, most of them in the competitive online, of course. But the story itself is fun, addictive and long, at really open for first time in the series.

  6. I’ve been replaying all the pokèmon games from gen 1 to gen 7 and yeah. Pretty sad.
Pokèmon means a lot to me I can’t deny it. Seeing that people will buy in mass the newer ones no matter the unacceptable quality for a multibillion company it’s a sign for me that I have to go all hope that it can be good again. This franchise is aimed towards kids, and kids will buy anything as long as there is their favorite mascotte on it. That’s why there are so many pokèmon themed products. Oh well. I got all my favorite Pokémon games that I can replay whenever I want, if someday Game freak makes another quality title again then I’ll be more than happy to buy it.

    1. It’s interesting how two players of the same age can have WILDLY differing opinions on the quality of these games.

  7. I had a huge amount of fun with it and didn’t have any major bugs or glitches during the entirety of my playthrough. Pop in and clipping were no worse than BotW. As someone who hasn’t played a lot of the recent entries, I thought it was a breath of fresh air and a wonderful re-entry point for 90s players who lapsed. Pokemon designs being on point had a lot to do with it.
