A port of the acclaimed Grand Theft Auto IV could well be coming to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch later this year. The long-awaited game was released back in 2008 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and kept gamers entertained for hours while breaking records at the time. Leaker Tez2 says that the upgraded version of the game has been in development for over a year now.
“Have you by chance heard anything about a potential GTA IV “remaster”/port for modern gen consoles?”
“Someone at R* hinted at the IV port, and by now it should’ve gone up a year in development. We may end up seeing it drop later this year. And it’s one more reason, in addition to existing reasons, the LCPP mod was taken down. If they still follow their plan laid out from the pandemic days, they’ll do an MP3 port after IV. So that is an opportunity to do a bundle or a Definitive Edition. Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, and a Max Payne 3 port.”
This is poor if true. Whilst a new game is welcome there’s no reason why all we get from GTA are very old games in the series. At the very least I would have expected GTA V. Disappointing
Switch can just about run RDR, so likelihood, R* is porting GTA IV for the Switch because it’ll be easier on the hardware, whilst GTA V might be coming to the Switch 2 with Ray Tracing using DLSS.
So I wouldn’t worry too much, plus, if the other rumours about GTA VI on Switch 2 are true, you might just get your wish (So would I because I’d love to play GTA VI on the go on my Switch 2)
I am confused. Why should it come to PS4? The source does not even mention a potential console.
I think it’s like how they ported RDR (Red Dead Redemption) being ported to PS4 and Switch, which lead to the PC port later on.

To the people bummed it’s not GTA 5, aren’t you sick of that game yet?
I mean i clocked in over 300+ Hours on my PC and still enjoy going back to it and replaying the game again, it has a weird appeal.
But, I always wanted a GTA IV remake/remaster, so I’m super excited if this turns out to be true
GTA 5 is a timeless masterpiece so not really. Great story, superb open world, lovable characters. It’s rockstar at its best
