Diddy Kong gets revamped

Everyone’s favourite Kong, the young and energetic Diddy Kong, has received a slight revamp to join the mighty Donkey Kong. The new design featured in a Nintendo News post via the Nintendo Switch news app and it has got everyone going bananas. The changes aren’t quite so dramatic though. The redesign of Diddy Kong features teeth, the removal of the Nintendo logo from his baseball cap, and more defined fur. The image is fairly small and low quality, so we will have to wait for Nintendo to provide some larger marketing materials to see the full extent of the rework.

  1. I remember when they gave sonic teeth, did anyone notice the new yellow star on Diddys hat 🕵️‍♂️

    1. His design looks like the movie one I posted above. On the movie screenshot the pin looks more Diddy Kong’s initial (D) while the Nintendo News post looks different, maybe due to the resolution. We should get an image with better resolution soon.

  2. Well, it’s not as drastic a change as Donkey Kong’s redesign is. The teeth and shinier tongue were immediately obvious to me.

I do find it a curious choice to remove the “Nintendo” from his cap, though; did they think it was an unwanted fourth wall break or something?

  3. Anyone who played the demo know if the traditional Donkey Kong jazz music is back? I can care less about the redesign if Donkey and Diddy Kong. A DK game aint a DK game without that Jazz soundtrack.

  4. Diddy looks fine considering the changes are very minimal, especially compared to DK (who looks alright as well tbh).
