The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in addition to the previously-announced Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG) platforms. All platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, are now scheduled to launch in January 2026.
“I’m excited to announce that the latest entry in Nihon Falcom’s Trails series, The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon, will also be released on Nintendo Switch 2,” says Nihon Falcom President Toshihiro Kondo. “With the power of the Nintendo Switch 2, we expect players to have an even more enjoyable experience. In fact, this will mark the debut of the Trails series on the Nintendo Switch 2, and I personally have high expectations for it. Please continue to look forward to the release!”

I’m glad I preordered the Switch version cuz I can just buy the upgrade path. Honestly I’d rather buy the game digitally than buy “physical”.

Key Card is the same as the game not existing to me
I absolutely don’t understand the Key Card hate. It’s not like the old ways, when you open the case and there’s a one-time-use download code. You literally have a cartridge that allows you to play the game on any console, you can resell it, you can treat it like any old cartridge. The only difference is that the data is in the console. How is it different from games that need huge patches to run, which is a long time standard now? Or games with DLCs? I feel like Switch 2 sparked some of the weirdest hatewagoons complaining about the most mundane things like it’s the end of the world.
It’s just the internet. Don’t think too hard about it the market will decide whether this thing has a place or not.
