Jason Schreier implies the Dragon Quest VII Remake is real

Bloomberg video game reporter Jason Schreier has weighed into the Dragon Quest VII Remake news and hinted that it’s in fact legitimate. The news broke yesterday with a report that Square Enix is remaking the PlayStation One game Dragon Quest VII and targeting the game with an early 2026 release date. It’s not clear how extensive the remake is, but that’s something we will find out from Square Enix in due course. There was no mention of the long-awaited Dragon Quest 12 in the report, but that’s hopefully coming.

  1. I played through this one on 3DS and it was a real slog to get through. Hopefully they make changes to the flow of the game because whilst cool it’s very heavy going

  2. Also while it’s probably a separate team doing it I can’t help feeling that all available resources should be going into Dragon Quest XII. They seem obsessed with constantly remaking DQ games and while some are worthwhile like the recent 1-3 ones, not sure this is necessary when we had a remake less than 10 years ago
