As we have already discovered the beautiful Donkey Kong Bananza was originally build for the Nintendo Switch before the Kyoto-based company finalised the new Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. Nintendo has given fans a look at how the game would have looked on the Nintendo Switch compared to the much beefier Nintendo Switch 2. As you can see the Nintendo Switch 2 version contains a lot more detail on the character models and lusher environments.

It’s interesting…so far, Nintendo has only shown first-party games that were originally designed for previous systems. Prime 4, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart World, Tears of the Kingdom for the Switch, and even Breath of the Wild for the Wii U. The real limits of what the Switch 2 can do will only be revealed once they develop games built for it from the ground up. I’m optimistic.
This is exactly what I’ve been thinking about, so far there is nothing from Nintendo as opposed to a full blown switch 2 game. Obviously bananza and mkw are switch 2 games, but as you mentioned originally starting development with the original switch in mind.
Hopefully there’s a direct just around the corner that might show the next 3D Mario built from the ground up for the switch 2 and maybe the rumoured OoT remake.
So at the moment the only true switch 2 1st party titles are some hardware tutorial and the one racing around in wheel chairs ( which I don’t think is released yet).
I’m even more optimistic than you! Twice as optimistic even
Noice!
That reply to the article aside, I agree with the others here. A built from the ground up Nintendo game should look even more impressive down the road.
