Japan: Large survey shows Nintendo games gender split and average ages

A new survey from GEM Partners has revealed more about the gender split and average ages of Nintendo fans in The Land of the Rising Sun. The GEM partners survey surveyed 180,000 Japanese gamers to get a better understanding of the different age ranges and genders playing certain popular Nintendo franchises. Noticeably the Kirby and Animal Crossing series have more female players than male and the average age range of Nintendo gamers in Japan is around 30 years-old.

  1. Average age seems a bit high, seems like a bit of demographic bias going on. Did they talk about where they got their data?

  2. For those confused about the ages, here in Japan we have many old people. Everyone plays games so even if there is many children the average is maybe higher than other countries.
