A new survey from GEM Partners has revealed more about the gender split and average ages of Nintendo fans in The Land of the Rising Sun. The GEM partners survey surveyed 180,000 Japanese gamers to get a better understanding of the different age ranges and genders playing certain popular Nintendo franchises. Noticeably the Kirby and Animal Crossing series have more female players than male and the average age range of Nintendo gamers in Japan is around 30 years-old.

I wonder what those numbers would be in the west? 🤔
Also the average age, with the lowest of 27, seems quite high. Didn’t the ask any kids or teens?
Well at this rate, traditional gaming will probably die out as there base gets older.
It is just an average… gamers on their 40s-50s, gamers in their teens… average becomes 30. The gaming is not dying, its thriving
Not traditional gaming though, at least what we assume it to be. Sure it’ll be the same companies, but gaming will be shell of what it used to be, which it mostly is now :/
So it is late generation Millennials and early generation Z.
More adults play games (we have the cash to do so).
Average age seems a bit high, seems like a bit of demographic bias going on. Did they talk about where they got their data?
For those confused about the ages, here in Japan we have many old people. Everyone plays games so even if there is many children the average is maybe higher than other countries.
