Ubisoft believes Star Wars Outlaws Switch 2 release can revive the open-world game

Star Wars Outlaws didn’t launch in the best state with numerous glitchy playthroughs being streamed on Twitch and YouTube. Fast forward to today and Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot blamed Star Wars Outlaws missed sales targets on the Star Wars franchise apparently being in “choppy waters” however, he expects that the Game-Key Card game will sell very well on the Nintendo Switch 2 stating that “improvements on the game are not finished.” Star Wars Outlaws launches on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.

  1. It’ll be really interesting to see how this game performs on Switch 2. It’s definitely something that couldn’t have run on PS4 and I’ve heard it always operates with ray tracing turned on. It’s also a large and dense open-world game. I worry that the cutbacks may make it a bit too unplayable for my tastes but here’s hoping it’s actually good! If it is, I can imagine Ubisoft will have a hell of a time porting their other games to Switch 2.

    1. Wanted to chime in here to say that im not comparing the Switch 2 to the PS4. I think Cyberpunk 2077 runs much better on Swtich 2 and its not even really comparable to the PS4 version. But the reality is that its still a mobile chipset, and i can imagine that a game as technically ambitious as Star Wars Outlaws may have serious drawbacks on it. There’s a reason why there’s barely been any footage of it and its due to come out next month.

      1. We already had a trailer… Then talking about ‘mobile chipset’ is a bit simplistic, even downright ignorant: their graphics chip is derived from a desktop card from NVidia, it’s not from Samsung or Qualcomm. Also, mobile CPUs have absolutely nothing to envy compared to their desktop counterparts, you know… Lastly, NVidia’s expertise in this area is no longer in question…

        1. See, I’m trying to extend a bridge and you calling me ignorant so I’m gonna check out of this convo but before I do I will say that your lack of any wariness towards the quality of all ports is giving delusional.

  2. The problem isn’t that people are sick of open world games — they’re sick of open world games that feel like a second job. Too many Ubisoft-style games are just repetitive grindfests with copy-paste missions, dull stories, uninteresting characters, and way too much microtransactions. if you want the full experience, you’re often stuck buying ultimate editions or extra DLC.

At least i heard they fixed a lot of bugs and glitches with this one… but i don´t know, ubisoft is not what they used to be anymore.
