SEGA has confirmed this evening that Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage is Nintendo Switch 2 bound though it won’t be coming on the same date as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. A Nintendo Switch 2 release window was not announced with the developer simply stating that it’s coming soon. To whet fans appetites, SEGA unleashed a brand new trailer showcasing the content-packed game which you can watch down below.
Features:
- Cross-play functionality lets you brawl it out with players on any platform.
- Additionally, online matches will run more seamlessly than ever, thanks to rollback netcode, allowing you to engage in intense battles with opponents all over the world!
- In the all-new immersive single-player mode, you’ll travel the globe and compete in a massive tournament.
- Along the way, you’ll encounter formidable foes, including CPUs based on world-renowned players.
- Climb up the ranks and claim the title of world champion!

I don’t really play fighting games, but I’m happy for those who do!
I haven’t given this enough thought up till now, but it’s looking like even SEGA is looking at the Switch 2 as a platform to put more major games on. I don’t expect RGG’s Project 1942 or whatever to come to the platform but I think pretty much all Atlus, Sonic, and Yakuza titles have a real shot of being ported. I’m waiting to see more from CAPCOM but it’s good to see meaningfully more games from big Japanese and even Western publishers.
