Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds trailer takes shots at Mario Kart World

SEGA is looking up heat up its rivalry with Nintendo once again as it unleashes its new Sonic Racing CrossWorlds commercial and it’s brilliant to see. SEGA pokes fun at Mario Kart World in an effort to show that Sonic Racing CrossWorlds does things differently than Nintendo’s hugely popular karting series. If you engaged with the open network test you’ll know that the game does feel noticeably different to the Mario Kart series, but if that’s a good or bad thing, only time will tell. Check out the trailer down below.

    1. It’s kinda extra funny when you consider they’ve like collabed with Nintendo several times and have Genesis games on NSO 😭

  1. I see this as a come back to their old and big ads. It’s just for the nostalgia and engagement, I don’t think they’re really poking nintendo here.

  2. This is embarrassing…

Did they really need to mention maio kart world?

Mario kart world sucks but would be extra funny if sonic doesn’t sell (again) as that game.

  3. Are people here that young that they dont realize this is a reference to a commercial from the 90s from when Sega and Nintendo were actually rivals?

    1. “competition”
they literally have to sell their flagship IP on Nintendo platforms for decent sales most of the time dude lol

  4. Cute, but hypocritical. At least, Nintendo never released a buggy, unfinished mess like Sonic 06, unlike SEGA.

And Racing could very well have barely any single player, just online crap. MKW, for all its flaws, has single player content. And be buggy on launch. And its DLC content has no substance, no voicelines besides for Miku (due to a program doing her voice) and looking really cheap, especially the Switch 1 version (it can’t even do the blur effect, ffs).

Say all you want about Nintendo being greedy, they’re not as on-a-budget as Nu SEGA is.
