Two more Nintendo Switch games have been fixed for Switch 2

Nintendo has been busy working with third party publishers to ensure their Nintendo Switch games work on the Nintendo Switch 2 system. The latest batch of games which are now working correctly are Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville. Nintendo Switch compatibility updates with Nintendo Switch 2 generally come when new system updates are deployed. However, this isn’t the case this time, meaning that they can seemingly be fixed and corrected at any time.

  1. No it’s not good news. Why are they wasting resources doing this when it already can play Switch 1 games anyway let alone it takes 12 years to make a game from scratch. 5 million Switch 2 owners invested in paying $450 or $500 and mostly playing Switch 1 games with better resolution. When are we going to get Luigi’s Mansion 4 announcements or Pikmin 5 or even Octopath Travelers 3 or Bravely Default III or Astral Chain 2,Smash bros or a real Pokemon game exclusive to Switch2? Yet want to use resources to put Switch 1 games to turn them into Switch 2 games. Why? The Switch 1 has an install base over 150 million. Yall take too long to make games. At this rate I amy have to pay $700 for a Switch 3.

    1. Nintendo mentioned that they are collaborating with third-party developers to improve game compatibility. It’s not clear if they are actually sharing development costs or mainly providing development kits and tools to assist studios.

Regarding upcoming releases, we recently got Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. Two more titles, Kirby Air Riders and a new Hyrule Warriors are planned for next month. Looking further ahead, next year should bring Splatoon Raiders, a new Fire Emblem, a Yoshi title, and The Duskbloods, along with several others that haven’t been announced yet.

As for Smash Bros. Ultimate (since you mentioned it), remember that it came out more than a year after the original Switch’s launch. So it’s likely we will need to wait a bit before other big titles start appearing, but not too long.

    2. This is actually very good news, you twit. They’re fixing bugs that arise from Switch games being played on Switch 2. I mean, seriously. Did you actually READ the article?

    3. As someone who has hundreds or more dollars invested in a Switch games, I’m glad they’re not just ignoring us to develop new (remade) games. I hope newer versions of the Switch games are bring developed, but this is one of the few times Nintendo isn’t leaving users of an older console behind.

  2. They should’ve done this BEFORE releasing the switch 2. Nintendo are just greedy and incompetent. Charging 99$ for Mario Galaxy 1+2 is a joke when it should be 40$. They should’ve made switch 2 stronger with a better battery, they had 7 years to do this.

    1. Lucas, they WERE doing that before release. They even had a whole site saying which games had problems or not and were updating that number regurlarly. You need to remember that some problems can only be found when there are thousands of people playing rather than dozens of playtesters. That and Mario Galaxy 1+2 is 70$, not a 100$
