The Game Awards 2025 had a record 171 million livestreams worldwide

It seems as though Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards 2025 were a resounding success with 171 million livestreams broadcast worldwide. It should be noted that The Game Awards were also shown on Prime Video and those streams are not included in the number, so it seems as though the event broke all kinds of records this year. There were a number of big trailers showcased during the event including Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Tomb Raider: Catalyst and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.

  1. And I was not one of them. Any worthwhile news, I read here or notice social media posts suddenly appearing about it (like Sephiroth’s Smash Ultimate reveal- didn’t see it live read about it minutes later right here on the site).

    1. Smart. Honestly I think they’re lying about views or botting. Nepo baby Geoff has the Imax money to do so. Less people seemed to have watched this year like there was less hype around it.

  2. Not a expert on numbers I could be wrong here Not sure how well directs and stuff do but if like it claims that was a huge success it sounds like it to me, But this proves to me people miss the E3 format or the in person big events that people know are coming and expecting news from. That is what I take away from this news. It shows the desire to have something like a E3 again.

    1. Ew no. Directs are way better. E3 was awful and towards the end nothing great was shown also most partners had left by then, Nintendo was one of the first. People just nostalgic for E3 it was trash let it stay dead.

  3. Is this less than last year? Because they streamed on Kick last year and didn’t this year? So number should be lower…. less people seemed to have reacted live as well.

  4. Game journos here already defending this and praising the show. Geoff lies and exaggerates the number it clearly is bots. He needs to make it seem bigger and growing every year to attract more advertisers and maintain existing ones all these media companies have to do it and websites. Also get naive companies to pay him $1 million to reveal trailers.

    1. Naive makes them sound wholesome. Better word is out of touch they’re just out of touch old people and China. Honestly only milennials think the game awards matter.

    2. I can confirm YouTube does it and we all know Twitch does it, X, Facebook, Instagram, not sure if TikTok does it but probably. Agencies bot these people to make their clients look good and companies do it too for their products. That got us here them lying about numbers but they blame politics when it was their fault and the influencers will not call it out because they’re part of it. The money trails runs deep.
