Ubisoft says it’s unlikely Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Switch 2 will have resolution bump in handheld mode

Assassin’s Creed Shadows rendering technical architect Nicolas Lopez, rendering project lead programmer Sebastien Daigneault, and engine project lead programmer Bruno Champoux have spoken in a new interview about the challenges they faced bringing the game to the Nintendo Switch 2. One thing that users have been commenting on is the fact that the game is noticeably blurrier when played in handheld mode. Asked whether this was something the team were planning to fix or improve they said the following:

When asked if there is any possibility of handheld mode getting a patch for a higher resolution, the team explained why that likely isn’t possible. “In handheld mode, the game is already pushing both the GPU and CPU very hard,” they explained, “and there isn’t much headroom left without taking significant risks. The GPU in particular is heavily filled with compute workloads, so we feel we’ve reached a good overall balance between resolution and fluidity. That said, if additional optimisations are found over time, they would naturally result in higher dynamic resolution.”

    1. It’s trash, Ubislop is the worst and shouldn’t be rewarded. They brought massive shame on Japan with that desecration.

      1. A black samurai and a white guy is offended for Japanese people. Only in America. Ubisoft games are incredible and the hate that comes from you forum shredders is disgusting. Go outside pray for more inclusion and then be mad at a game, that is a just a game, for no reason whatsoever just to complain. Get a life. The game is great.

  1. Agreed. Honestly adds more shame to France. They need to be investigated and shut down they are in some weird financial things.

      1. For criticizing a trash company? Go ahead and buy their games then don’t complain about anything afterwards. No whinning about digital only, microtransactions, live service, and $80 buggy game launches that brick consoles with no refund.

    1. I’m not Japanese so I’m not going to talk about what Japanese people are offended or not offended by. I try not to speak on behalf of other people’s cultures.

      1. Even outside that they are a disgusting company take money from the CCP, mistreat employees, and run a scam I mean they expanded off tax credits and tax breaks no one calls that out. Probably because they pay off leftists like Hasan Piker who loves the CCP.

  2. Trash game do not enable Ubisoft. All these companies made bad decisions and now want ports to save them. Square Enix is in that camp too and honestly Capcom.

  3. The lack of resolution doesn’t bother me. I buy games for the switch because of portability and ability to dock at home. If I want resolution, I’ll buy it on my ps5. I love being able to take good games on the go.
