Arc System Works considering ending support for Switch version of Guilty Gear Strive

The team at Arc system Works have said in a development post on their website that they are considering how much longer they will develop and nurture Guilty Gear Strive on the Nintendo Switch due to the platform’s obvious hardware constraints. Arc System Works haven’t explicitly stated that they are ending support for the platform, but they suggest it could eventually happen as the game becomes more complex with future updates etc. Here’s what they said:

“Finally, regarding the future of GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- Nintendo Switch Edition.

Developing and operating the game on Nintendo Switch required a great deal of effort and ingenuity to work within hardware constraints. Based on that experience, we are currently examining what form future updates beyond Version 2.0 could take for the Nintendo Switch Edition.

Please note that feasibility will depend not only on technical challenges, but also on how far we can push ourselves as a development team, as well as on feedback and support from our players. All of these factors will be taken into account as we make our decisions.”

  1. Just like Factorio, Space Age wasn’t released on the Switch due to technical constraints; they made a Switch 2 edition. They’re going to do the same here: abandon the Switch version to focus on the Switch 2 version. Can we blame them? No

  2. Rest in piss. They ruined the series with the awful Bridget retcon, dividing the facts between people who just wanna play the game and Twitter freaks who want everything to be political. Bridget is a dude, and Daisuke Ishiwatari is a sellout who isn’t gonna get my money again unless he walks it back.

      1. He has a point there, not only because of Bridget. The game is a joke, the story dumbed down and the gameplay boring and broken beyond repair. Just let it die and move on. it is not only the nonsense changes with Bridget to “please” the “modern gamers”, the whole thing is breaking apart. It really reminds me to the last installment of Tekken, which was such a disaster (in my eyes.)

The gaming industry really need a good and heavy crash to wake them up. Days of DEI and other nonsense bull are over. This is not selling anymore, especially because of the price of 80 bucks.

        1. Like 50% of the “femboys” in real life are closeted trans women, I don’t know how you people see this character development some CRAZY ABSURD DEI WOKE change, she was already a queer character anyway

          1. These people literally have nothing better to do than complain about “dEi” or “wOkEnEsS”. They really deluded themselves into thinking that’s a real problem. Pathetic.

            1. No its genuine complaints but you just don’t like hearing opposing opinion and demand all conform and consume which is beyond dumb and when thungs tank for isloating a percent of a previous audience blame corporate greed.

          2. Nope character was not queer was a modern change. Do you actually care about this stuff or just want to consume product? I honestly do wonder most of you crying this BS would probably still consume if it was the opposing political side. If that’s the case your opinion should carry no weight you show you’re just mindless sheep thar buy whatever. Problem is you are not enough to sustain many of these things with the current political injection in these franchises and that seems to upset you. That seems mental.

            1. Not queer? She was a guy in girls clothes how is that not queer? Also nice projection bro, I’m ok with the change so I’m defenetly not crying, you however are going on tantrums about this, I SUSTAIN these changes, you however? Not really. That kinda seems mental.

“IF IT WAS ON THE OTHER POLITICAL SIDE” like what? Like old games before people were less vocal about lgbt stuff? Those are the games I play the most bro, I’m always playing 90’s early 2000 games, again the only one crying here is you. Cope.

          3. “50% of the “femboys” in real life are closeted trans women”
You understand nothing about crossdressing or drag culture. Keep your small-minded, ignortant takes out of my lifestyle, tourist.

            1. You are lying if you are saying that it’s not true that many people into cross dressing found out they are trans trough out their life and you know this.

    1. Yeah agreed. The franchise would have been better under Sega. BlazBlue I always thought was better and the creator Mori has a new studio called StudioFlare I’m more excited for his new project it’s an action game but he said he’s interested in making a new fighting game down the road. NetEase is funding him and Nagoshi’s new studio and really excited for Gang Of Dragon since Yakuza just went downhill for me during the PS4 era when Nagoshi was less involved and it got sensitive and jokey they ruined lore and Majima.

    1. Except they’re ending services for both Nintendo consoles, because their porting team probably has a small budget and can’t keep up.

    2. Why? Strive 2 is on the way and Strive has a very low player base no one came back for the DLC and the guest was a waste of money.

    1. Strive was trash anyway most GG fans dropped it and the sales it made was because it came out 2020 and most people who bought a PS5 needed a game to play. The active player base is no where near the millions and with the story done most don’t care. Add on because Strive sold in the millions they are keeping that awful gameplay just look at Tokon. Strive 2 will tank hard and even worse will probably be PS5 console exclusive, Strive was cross gen at launch and on PC.
