Japanese gaming publication 4Gamer recently caught up with Makoto Shibata and Hidehiko Nakajima to talk about the upcoming Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake. The pair were asked why they decided to remake the game and the answer was simply that fans were pleased with the other remasters of Maiden of Black Water and Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and they thought Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly would be a perfect fit for a remake. It has also been a while since the original was released and the team thought it would be the perfect time to give the game the remake treatment.
Nakajima: In the Fatal Frame series we previously released remasters of Maiden of Black Water and Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. We received praise from fans all over the world that “the visuals were much better”, but at the same time lots of people asking “What about a Crimson Butterfly remake or remaster?” That led us to begin thinking about developing it.
Shibata: Amongst all of the requests for “We want a remaster of this!” and “We want a new game”, the most common were those waiting for a Crimson Butterfly remake. We really understood how much the title was valued and loved by everyone. Even within the company we had opinions from people saying “I played that a long time ago”, and “That? I loved it!”, so we also wanted to make a remake for those people too.

Where is Dead Or Alive? They said they would outsource Ninja Gaiden and Dead Or Alive now 2 games have come out that were outsourced for Ninja Gaiden and a remake of 2.
This year is the 30th anniverary of Dead Or Alive! Everyone should let Koei Tecmo know that! Last year was Ninja Gaiden’s year and we got some Ayane love but lets finally get Dead Or Alive back. Also hope Ninja Gaiden 4 adds DLC for Hayate honestly would love to play as him.
Yup! Also to honor the late Tomonobu Itagaki also they need to port Ninja Gaiden 4 to Switch 2 give that game a second chance to thrive given it flopped thanks to awful Xbox marketing despite being multiplatform.
My guesses are Eighting, Arika, Dimps, Platinum, or CyberConnect2. Also hoping Konami brings Bloody Roar back with Eighting next year is it’s 30th anniversary. Saudi’s invested in Capcom for Street Fighter 6, bought SNK, and invested in Koei Tecmo too now we need them to invest in Konami for Bloody Roar. EA I think will bring Def Jam back under them or a spiritual succesor.
We need that nostalgia era. Honestly this gen was supposed to be that but soylennials ruined it for everyone they seem to have some dislike for GTA too and the early 2000’s at one point they hated the late 90’s stuff too. Notice these people know of these franchises but never actually played them and want to use it for their own agendas they did it in Hollywood, rap music, and are trying with anime.
We should have gotten GTA clones but the milennial demo these companies listen to don’t want that and didn’t play thoss games or PS2 they wants left wing politics and crappy 80’s stuff.
Agreed this gen was just a bad rehash of the PS3 era. We can’t even get PS2 nostalgia like GTA clones and remakes are easy money. How can you fumble this bad with AI existing now remakes should be easier everything from Dreamcast, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Original Xbox. These companies instead listen to boomer milennials who annoy everyone like the boomers before them!!! You hate capitalism then don’t contribute and if you hate the US so much move! WW2 generation screwed up so bad in so many ways like not raising their kids right or being easily fooled.
6th Gen was the best huge reason why the greatest selling console was that era. If they want money go back to that no wokeness, no trash, consistency on releases. Wish anime and cartoons could get back to that too.
Please announce Dead Or Alive 7! Please be good. Get Yuya Takahashi to write it he and his team from Kamen Rider Geats or do a MK2011 type reboot for Dead Or Alive with story mode focus of Ultimate and maybe 3.
