Residents are invited to relax and customise their personal paradise in all-new ways with Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, available Thursday 15th January for Nintendo Switch 2 alongside a free update for all Animal Crossing: New Horizons players.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, players can build their island paradise, enjoy a sunset on the beach, run around catching insects and more, all with enhanced resolution. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition also supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for interior decoration, creating Custom Designs and writing bulletin-board messages. And the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition adds the Megaphone, a new item you can use to call your island residents using the console’s built-in microphone.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition also offers expanded online features. If everyone has the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, up to 12 players can share their island experience in online sessions with GameChat support, while up to 8 players can play via local wireless. And by connecting a compatible USB camera such as the Nintendo Switch 2 camera, up to four players can see each other’s reactions in-game using CameraPlay.
Players who already own Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch can purchase the upgrade pack separately to enjoy all the enhancements of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
Launching on the same day as Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is a free software update, available to all Animal Crossing: New Horizons players on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The update introduces several new features, such as exploring the new resort hotel run by Kapp’n’s family, where players can design themed rooms, offer visiting tourists outfits to wear, craft and deliver DIY island goods, and earn tickets redeemable for exclusive collectibles at the souvenir shop. Players with a Nintendo Switch Online membership can invite their friends to join them on their Slumber Islands, a shared dreamscape they can transform as they deem fit. Also included in the update is Resetti’s Reset Service, giving players a quick and easy way to tidy up their island.
New collaborations are also available with the update. Players can collect in-game Nintendo consoles to give their island home some retro flair, and Nintendo Switch Online members can also play selected classic Nintendo titles in-game when interacting with specific Nintendo console items. LEGO items will also make their debut with this update, and players can scan selected amiibo from The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon series to invite new characters to visit their island and unlock various items inspired by those series.

This article was written this morning with the title of “reveals more details” but has no new information was provided. It’s just a click bait rehash of already existing information that everyone already knows since day one announcement. You didn’t even mention anything that was discovered in video clips since that announcement. Do better.
Chill, It was a PR email that was released this morning from Nintendo UK.
Bro got personally offended by a fan-run Nintendo blog 💀
I get the feeling there’s not going to be a new AC game for the Switch 2 now
It’s still very early in the SW2’s life cycle, there could still be one years from now. Remember when we got Splatoon 2 near the start of SW1’s release, thinking that was it for the console gen, and then got Splat 3 five years later?
