A potential new Nintendo Switch 2 model discovered

A Bluesky user has discovered what appears to be a new Nintendo Switch 2 model code on Nintendo’s internal website. The new Nintendo Switch 2 model uses the code name OSM and doesn’t fit with the current code names, meaning that it’s a different model from what has come before. The general thought is that it could be a Nintendo Switch 2 Lite which would reduce costs for Nintendo and would be a handy addition.

    1. Nintendo can probably made a NintendoSwitch3/LITE console, that have WirelessHDMITV output. Then no need wire HDMI cable from the NintendoSwitch3 Dock/Consoles to the TV, just connect a little rectangle to your HDMI TV. Also, imagine a NintendoSwitch3 console, that have wireless battery charging, like what it exist in some new cellular phone.

  1. I think that it can be, the NintendoSwitch2LITE console.

In 2026/01/16, i have an NintendoSwitchLITE console. But it cant play NintendoSwitch2 games, & it have a verry slow eShop/interface.

  2. They didn’t or weren’t able to discount the Switch 2 in the holiday sale compared to PS5. Maybe they saw lower than expected sales and decided to make a Lite model. There’s the upcoming RAM pricing and tarrifs, so that’s definitely one thing. This could turn out to be just a band-aid fix for the price gouging.

  3. It can’t be a Lite model. They need a die shrink before that’s possible. Maybe a TV model? That would need to be $300 to make sense though…

  4. Switch 2 lite is cheaper and smaller and for handheld use only. I am excited for switch 2 oled in 2 to 3 years. The bezels on switch 2 are still big.
