Sony has been trying its hardest to improve the sluggish sales of the PlayStation 5 in Japan even launching a Japan-only PlayStation 5 console which is quite a bit cheaper. This hasn’t really made a differences as Sony’s current console continues to be outsold by the original Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch has sold over 845.000 units since the Nintendo Switch 2 released in Japan. Whereas Sony’s PlayStation 5 has only sold 545.000 units in the same time frame.

This is japan sales chart, not U.S. It makes sense why the ps5 isn’t selling well over there since most playstation games are being made for a western audience, and I honestly hate that. At least nintendo makes games that don’t just try being another “The last of us” which is what every sony game feels like.

They literally remade until dawn, a game with unique camera angles like the original resident evil and turned it into a over the shoulder, third-person game. They rebooted god of war and changed the perspective. The created the franchises horizon and days gone that literally are trying to repeat the critical accliam that the last of us got by using identical emotional turn points in the story. If you put all of these games right next to each, they look very similar.
First of all, it’s not being outsold by much into the main reason why it’s being outsold is because PlayStation 5 is technically older hardware that Sony is constantly discounting. New or hardware such as the PlayStation 5 Pro has been stagnant in the United States and everything’s dead for the same exact reason: electing the orange turd in his cronies because Gamers thought they would be anti-woke and instead ruin the entire economy and Tech market. So everything is way too expensive and no one has any money to buy anything. Is the opposite problem that Japan has.

Pretty funny when you consider that the Japanese market is 90% ‘Nintendo Mascot’ or ‘Turn-Based Menu Simulator #472.’ You say the West is ‘one-dimensional’ when Japan is the only place on earth where Xbox has a 1% market share and Western RPGs, Grand Strategy, Simulators, and RTS games don’t even exist to the general public.
The West is the only market that actually buys everything! We made Elden Ring and Monster Hunter global hits while Japan was too busy buying its 15th version of Mario Kart 8. If you think the West is just ‘Gun and Ball,’ it’s because you’re willfully ignoring the thousands of indies Western developers make ever year that Japan’s ACTUALLY one dimensional consumer base is too scared to touch. Japan doesn’t crave variety; it craves the same three comfort foods served on a Nintendo plate!
Don’t they know all they have to do is a Bloodborne remake at 60 fps? Not even a sequel, just a remake.

On top of that, Bluepoint revealed that a Bloodborne remake was pitched last year and was denied anyways. So, Bloodborne was sadly never gonna happen anyway
This is what happens when your start making games with only the western appeal in mind man, no parappa, no ape escape, no gravity rush. Just cinematic interactive movies that are written like some marvel movie. I DESPISE new Sony so much man, they lost their touch and it’s the reason why Nintendo keeps thriving aside all their scummy consumer practices, Nintendo knows how to make colorful and fun games and that’s why they will always be the best at making games
