US: Nintendo Switch 2 sales data from Circana will be released Thursday for December

Circana, the group which tracks video game software and hardware sales in the United States, will be delivering its latest chart information for the month of December on Thursday. We know the Nintendo Switch 2 failed to dominant during November in the United States as the PlayStation 5 proved to be the best-selling console for that particular month. We shall see on Thursday how Nintendo’s latest system faired during the all-important Christmas shopping season.

    1. It wont, but it has nothing to do with how sales are right now. Switch 2 has sold more units already in 7 months than Switch did in it’s entire first year. It won’t outsell Switch though in the long run because it’s more expensive and the pandemic significantly boosted Switch sales.

  1. … I wonder (and hope) Kirby Air Riders reached the 2.5 millions of copies across the world so far. I know for certain that it reached the million already (or at worst more than 900k) in Japan. I also know that in November it was in the top 10 best selling games in the United States even by acknowledging just the physical copies, so perhaps it might have sold about 800k there just in November. The major problem is Europe thought: it was the second best selling game in digital form on Switch 2 eshop in November (after Pokemon… riiiiight….), but the sales of the retail copies there were a complete disaster. And that could spell trouble for the game reaching that amount during its first 40 days…. I hope it sold well, Air Riders was the only game of the last year, altogether with DK Bananza and Chrono Gear: Warden of Time that I loved to heart, so I really hope it sold well enough despite being a niche game. 2.5 millions are enough for me to consider it a great success. But I don’t know if it managed to reach it that amount… fingers crossed…
