In a new interview with Nintendo Dream Kensuke Tanabe has announced that he is retiring from Nintendo after an extremely solid career working on a variety of beloved Nintendo franchises ranging from Mario to Donkey Kong. Mr. Tanabe says that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be the last game he has worked on for the Kyoto-based company. The talented Risa Tabata will be his successor. Here’s a rough translation of what Mr Tanabe said:
“It’s been 40 years since I joined Nintendo. This Metroid Prime 4 will be the last game I work on at Nintendo. However, we didn’t deliberately do anything “special.” Instead, like with previous Nintendo games, we worked together with Retro Studios to complete it, hoping to provide a fun and unique experience for players of all ages and types.I would be very happy if this game leaves a lasting impression on those who play it. And for those who haven’t played it yet, I hope you will experience the unknown planet of Viewros through Samus’s eyes.”

With a career spanning every era of Nintendo’s video games operation it’s not a big deal what the last game was. That’s a massive amount of industry change and evolution to have taken part in. And he became a name people recognize, that’s better than most in the industry.
Good, go away, you Miyamoto d*ck sucker. Even Shigeru himself thinks you’re too much.
Wow stfu dumbass
Shut up.
His career has spanning into NES to Switch 2 era. He has already been recognized for his big accomplishments and achievements. I hope he enjoys his retirement.
It always makes me a little sad when I hear people like this Are retiring, but he has certainly put in his hours: i hope he’s able to enjoy retirement.
